There are a number of wide and varied roles in the business for Adult Social Care.

The types of jobs in adult social care are wide-ranging and are not just on the front line. There are a number of roles which support the sector which operate in the background but are vitally important to the function of Adult Social Care. These include -

Commissioning

Councils are responsible for commissioning publicly funded social care services. Commissioning is the process by which care services are planned, purchased and monitored. Commissioning comprises a range of activities, including assessing needs, planning services and procuring services.

Brokerage

Brokers support people of to help source the best support solutions available to achieve maximum independence for the individual. They need to be up-to-date with the changes of the social care system and welfare system.

Quality and Performance Assurance

They help councils keep track of the standards of care and support provided by services. This includes care homes, homecare agencies, supported living and day care opportunities, amongst others. They influence change through challenging poor practice and promoting best practice, facilitating a continuous programme of improvement.

Business Support

Business Support provides support across the full range of office and service activities or business processes. These include -

  • the smooth running of the office environment
  • front of house and reception functions
  • administrative and secretarial or PA support to operational staff
  • the provision of relevant support, information, and advice to service and Senior Managers
